GERD Symptoms and Treatment

GERD is associated with the esophagus. The esophagus is a tube connecting the mouth and stomach. What we eat and drink goes down the esophagus and into the stomach. While this happens, LES muscles are relaxed to let the food enter the stomach and then closes it quickly. In people with weak LES muscle, get some of the stomach contents back up into the esophagus and this is called reflux. If this happens, leads heartburn.

Now a day, GERD has become very common. Some people experience the symptoms of GERD, even daily. Let’s get some symptoms of GERD:

is the first symptom of GERD, heartburn. In general, heartburn occurs after half or one hour after meals. Heartburn can be more intense when lying down, exercising or bending over. The burning can start from the middle of the chest and extends to the neck. Frequent heartburn or may arise from time to time, but it happens regularly. This means that could be severe or frequent episodes of heartburn for several weeks or even months and then it can be reduced to less frequent or even stop for a few weeks or even months. Usually, heartburn over again, and it is a life long problem.

Regurgitation: Regurgitation

means that the liquid will flow back into the mouth. Especially with people with GERD, a little amount of liquid back into the esophagus and enters the neck and thus it may even come up to the mouth. Of GERD patients there may be a sour taste in their mouth.
